4 Easy Peasy Quick Changes to Reduce Runner’s Mustache By: Chrissy Dress CureDeRepos

1.Photo Regul

The quick and easy answer is to purchase the Photo Regul by Institut Esthederm. This product is proven to stop pigmentation in its tracks and even reduce what is there over time. It will not make a tan go away, but directly works on the melanocytes from over populating cells with melanin which causes the “dark mustache” or spots.

I recommend this to all my clients who are “runners “because essentially, it’s your day cream and SPF plus pigmentation treatment all in one. Boom! Easy Peasy.

2.Reapply

Now. If you’re a runner whose out for more than an hour, I’d take a little to reapply with me on my run. You’re running. Sweating. Wiping your face. Even though this product is a mineral physical block and is amazing, reapplying in this case is necessary. We sweat the most when running on our “mustache line” so that’s why it can cause pigment quicker.

I wear this product when I run outside, but I’m a 5 mile in an hour gal, and done. So, unless it’s super humid I don’t need to reapply...

3. Discuss Treatments with your Licensed Aesthetician

For the long-winded answer, we can chat in person. Treatments such as peels. Microderm and more have helped me in my skincare journey to even out my pigmentation. This is not an overnight cure, as I have mentioned this has been several years of consistent at home skincare regime and professional treatments. I like to set expectations, as everyone’s skin needs, and journey are different.

4. Add Vitamin A into Your Skincare Diet

Adding Vitamin A into your skincare diet will be essential for a long term solution and not a band aid. Vitamin A, overtime helps to strengthen the skins functionality as well as barrier strength. The skin becomes more resilient and normalizes in appearance of skin abnormalities and damage over time.

At first the skin may seem a bit sensitive or “flake” as the vitamin A acclimates within the skin.  Therefore, consulting a professional is important to guide you through these steps and reassure you that even the smallest of reactions your skin may have is normal. It’s not always pretty, but we’ll get there!

I used to have massive pigmentation on my forehead, and I called it my “Gorbachev” It would pop up as soon as it would start to get hot outside, I did not even have to go into the sun for it to start to reappear. The heat would activate my pigmentation, it was like it knew Spring Break was here and ready to party!
So, about 6-7 years ago I was introduced to Environ C-Quence line, and since then, over time it has disappeared. I started with the C-Quence 1 and moved up, as it is a step-up system.  I also included the Retinol 1 and stuck with that for a few years till I stepped up to Retinol 2, using it 3-4x per week at night only.

Adding these steps with patience plus, peels and microderm here and there... It took time but now when I run it doesn’t rear its ugly head. No pun intended! 😂 Or, ever, I can honestly say I have eradicated my forehead from any signs of pigmentation, even when the heat starts to climb.
